TSXM – GREAT BAY – Vromi Minister Maurice Lake was present to observe the test run by a 40-foot container truck at the causeway roundabout near the border on Tuesday.

The outcome of the site visit will lead to some changes being made to the current design of the roundabout.  The new sketches need to be ready by Friday morning for discussion.  Adjustments will also be made to the roundabout on the Simpson Bay side of the causeway.

The test run was carried out in the presence of Minister Lake, Inspector Benjamin Gout, Traffic Division from the National Police Force, John Richardson, John Richardson Jr., Ruud Goossens of Volker, Chris Schuurman of Windward Roads Infrastructure, Clyde Blackett, driver, Michelangelo Richardson, driver of Intermar, and members of the ministers cabinet.

“I have had experience in the past where it concerns the design of round-a-bouts.  In this case I brought in one of our local experts John Richardson.  Going back to basics also includes using local expertise for different things.  I always go back to basics when it comes to decision-making and consulting local experts,” Lake said.

“We need to come together for the best interest to move our country forward.  I am a very realistic person willing to work with any organization or group that has the interests of the country at heart,” Minister Maurice Lake added.
